Is it just me or has the news & social media gotten quite stressful lately? I have a feeling of divide & unrest going around the World which is quite unsettling. There are so many opinions being thrown around right now. No one is listening to anyone else & it seems that the great divide of opinions is getting wider by the day. Hearing & reading everyone’s opinions is quite stressful.
I’m choosing not to get involved in the debate. I’ll keep my opinions to myself.
What I do want to share is some inspiration to keep ourselves calm & true to ourselves despite the stress & whirlwind of negativity that is swirling around us.
I shared this video on Cuddle Fairy’s Facebook last week. It’s just over 1 minute long & has totally changed my idea of what meditation is. I always thought meditation involved sitting still & emptying the mind. This is something as a mom of 3 I just don’t have the time to do. Sure I could probably make the time but I don’t.
But this – this is just amazing: We – can – meditate – everywhere – at – anytime!!!
(sadly this video is no longer available)
What I love the most about the advice in the video is that we don’t have to stop thinking, just give the monkey in our brain a new focus. Trying not to think at all is too much pressure, especially for people (like me) who tend to think a lot.
So at any time when we feel stress, we can focus on our breath, breathe & feel the calm. Even if we don’t feel stressed, we can re-center with this easy method.
When life is busy or hectic, our gut feelings are often pushed aside or never considered. Letting our minds quiet with simple meditation lets us feel our intuition, our gut feeling or the soul – however you want to think of it. That feeling inside of us that knows what’s best for us, how we truly feel.
Finding that peace within ourselves will help us find peace in the world.
I think by taking a minute a few times a day to go within ourselves, to focus on our breath, get in touch with our soul, our gut feeling, to find our inner strength… lets us discover what matters most, what decisions to make, how to act & what to think. And then we can let go of things that are rattling around our minds, things that at the end of the day really don’t matter!
By going inside we can push aside all of the stuff that really doesn’t matter in our life. And focus on what does matter. Because in the end, what matters most?…
That’s what it’s all about – how we live, how we love, how we let go. The third point is often underrated. Letting go of stress, worry, fear & things that are bothering us lifts a weight & a burden we don’t have to carry around.
The best part of all is that this peace comes simply from focusing on the breath & finding that calm within. Listening to that inner voice. And it can be done while we are making a cup of tea, driving the car, watching TV. There doesn’t have to be a special set time or place to do this.
Do you ever meditate? Have you tried this simple method of going within yourself? I’d love to hear your experiences in the comments. x
