Spring 2022 Newborn Baby Parenting Guide

If you're bringing home a new baby in spring 2022, you probably have a lot of questions about the coming months. Here's your guide to what you need to do before your baby comes and how you can best care for your bundle of joy at home.

Preparing for Baby

At least a month before your baby is due, start stocking up on all the essentials, including wipes, diapers, the best newborn vitamin D drops, baby nail clippers, and baby soaps. Put these products on a special shelf or under your changing table so you don't lose them in the chaos before your baby arrives.

Make sure you have a few sizes of clothing for your baby in case he or she comes early or late. Wash them with detergent rated for babies' skin before putting them away. Don't forget about seasonal clothes such as sunhats, coats, and snowsuits.

Your baby won't be able to crawl for six to eight months, so you don't need to go overboard with babyproofing your house yet. If you have the time, though, make a list of the furniture you'll need to replace or move before your child becomes mobile.

What To Do After Bringing Your Newborn Home

Once the big day comes and you've brought your baby home, try to stay in the moment as much as possible. Nap whenever you can, because it may be difficult to sleep at night. Keep up with regular meals for your baby and yourself, especially if you're breastfeeding.

Keep a stock of Wellements baby products such as probiotics and cold and flu relief so that if your baby gets sick, you don't have to run to the store. Remember, your newborn's immune system isn't as well developed as yours, so he or she may manifest cold symptoms more seriously. Always reach out to your doctor if your baby has difficulty breathing, has a heavy cough, or runs a fever for more than a day.

Additionally, don't be alarmed if your baby's behaviour changes as the weeks go on. For example, if your baby is quiet at first but then begins to cry more frequently, he or she may be experiencing painful gas. Natural remedies such as organic gripe water can give your baby some relief as you figure out the cause of his or her digestive problems.

Having a schedule is helpful for managing all your household responsibilities as well as caring for your baby. Feel free to let your plans go if something goes wrong, though. For instance, if your baby doesn't sleep one night and you were planning to do laundry the next day, postpone the laundry or just run one load so that you can all rest. Also, try not to overschedule visitors.

The first months of having a baby can be overwhelming, but thankfully, there's a lot you can do to prepare before he or she arrives. Follow this guide to step into parenthood as smoothly as possible.
