My husband & I spent one glorious week at the Hotel Fuerte Marbella on the gorgeous Costa Del Sol in sunny Spain. We went to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. This is the first time we have gone abroad – just the two of us for ten years!
We spent some time researching resorts & hotels along the Costa Del Sol before deciding on the Hotel Fuerte Marbella because we wanted somewhere relaxing, special & fun for our anniversary trip. We definitely made the right choice & couldn’t be happier with our stay! Just look at how beautiful & well kept the Hotel Fuerte is!

Marbella is a stunningly beautiful place as are the people who come to visit it. It’s peaceful, chilled out & elegant. There is a modern promenade with souvenir shops, restaurants & bars. There’s the old town which is like going back in history with windy cobbled roads speckled with beautifully kept shops & restaurants.
The location of the Hotel Fuerte Marbella is ideal for visiting Marbella! Have a look at this map of Marbella. The hotel is marked with the red Google maker.
The yellow line is a main road with restaurants & shops. The red circle is where the old town Marbella is located – that was my favourite place to go! The badly drawn red line below the hotel is the promenade that runs past two marinas with lots of restaurants & shops along the way. It is literally out the back door of the hotel. The red star on the beach marks the Hotel Fuerte’s beach club & lounge chairs which are complimentary for hotel guests to use (you can see the white umbrella’s in the hotel’s photo above).
So when I say the location is ideal – it really is! If you walk out of the front of the hotel you have shops everywhere & a very short walk into the old town. There are also a few lovely parks nearby to explore. If you walk out the hotel’s back gate you are on the promenade with the beach club & loungers right in front of you. There was no noise – any night! From outside or inside the hotel. I’ve never stayed in a quieter hotel before.
The front of the hotel is shaded with huge trees.
Looking right just outside the Hotel Fuerte Marbella’s back gate down the promenade towards the shops.
Looking left just outside the Hotel Fuerte’s back gate looking towards the quiet side of the promenade with hotels & apartments.
Straight outside the back gate of the hotel is the Beach Club & lounge chairs. The Beach Club is open to the public. The lounge chairs are exclusive for hotel guests. Each lounge chair has a buzzer you can press to order food & drinks.
The Hotel Fuerte is fully gated. You swipe your key card to come in the back gate & there is security at the front gate of the hotel. It’s a very safe & quiet location. The professional & courteous staff all speak English among other languages.
We stayed in a sea view room that had the most amazing view of the sea! The room has a double bed, closet, safe, mini-bar, flat screen TV with a mix of channels in various languages, a desk & a large bathroom with a bathtub / waterfall shower head. They have every type of toiletry you could want waiting for you in the bathroom. The room & throughout the hotel is spotlessly clean & so well kept. Have a look in our room…
And now for the best part! The amazing sea views from our balcony. We look down over one of the hotel’s two swimming pools & onto the outdoor seating area for the hotel bar. The hotel both inside & out is a quiet & relaxing place to be. Listening to the sound of the waves on our balcony was idyllic.
As you can see the grounds at the Hotel Fuerte are so well kept! There are flowers, trees & paths leading you anywhere you want to go. The little details & little sections give a private & relaxing feel to sitting outside. Each of the little tables & lounge chairs had a button you can press for service or to ask for the bill. It is luxury & relaxation at its finest.
The hotel grounds are massive. There is plenty of room for everyone to relax. We were never stuck without a lounge chair or place to sit & have a meal. At check-in you are given towel cards which you had in for towels next to the pool. The Hotel Fuerte’s pool towels are huge & soft.
The Hotel Fuerte Marbella has thought of everything to make a relaxing stay for its guests. We forgot our power adapters & were able to borrow two from reception. The hotel also has bikes you can borrow to cycle the town or promenade.
Breakfast was included in our room rate & serves until 11 which makes for a very leisurely morning. The breakfast buffet is amazing! There is soooo much to choose from including bread, pastries, hot foods, cold meats, fruits & champagne! Yes, complimentary champagne! There is an omelet/pancake station where you can get omelettes, pancakes & eggs made to order. Here are a few of the options – there is so much more.
We had a dinner & a lunch at the hotel bar. And we had a lovely lunch at the Hotel Fuerte Beach Club right on the beach one afternoon. All of the meals were delicious with fresh, wholesome ingredients. You don’t have to be a hotel guest to dine at the Fuerte Beach Club.
If you sit down for a drink, they serve you one of these lovely snack platters below which we thoroughly enjoyed. The bottom two photos are at the Fuerte Beach Club & the top two are the hotel bar. The full menu is available at both locations.
I can’t say enough good things about the Hotel Fuerte Marbella. The staff are so well organized, professional & efficient. The hotel is huge with beautifully kept grounds where there is plenty of room for every guest to enjoy a peaceful stay. The location couldn’t be better It’s quiet but also walking distance from everything. And the food was gorgeous. Oh and free wifi! What else could we ask for!
I have so much to share with you about Marbella’s old town, promenade, gorgeous restaurants & Purto Banus so stay tuned for more posts to come! Just in case you are wondering, we paid for our holiday & all of our meals but I want to share our experiences with you. x
