How to Create the Perfect Family Christmas Card

collaborative post

Can you believe that it is only seven weeks until Christmas? That means we need to start planning our Christmas gifts and Christmas cards so we don't have a big rush and pile to do when December comes.

Creating a family Christmas card is a lovely tradition to do and a keepsake for both yourself and your loved ones. With a little bit of planning and preparations, you can come up with the perfect family Christmas card! Here are five tips to help you get started.

Decide what to wear

For a truly memorable and iconic family Christmas photo, you've got to have matching Christmas outfits! There are a few different ways that you can achieve this look. One is with matching christmas shirts where everyone has matching or coordinated family christmas shirts or jumpers on.

It makes for a cohesive and festive look! You can match with having the same few colours on everyone or by having matching accessories. It is important to have some sort of cohesion within the clothing to achieve that fun family photo.

Another option instead of shirts is to go for a more casual look with family matching christmas pajamas. That always makes a fun photo and card!

Consider the location for the photo

A traditional location is of course in front of the Christmas tree or festive fireplace in your home. If you don't have your decorations up yet, you can either wait for the photo or choose an outdoor location instead. Just consider the weather and time of day if you go for an outdoor shot.

Include the family pets

Don't forget about your furry friends! They should be included in the family photo as well and be sure to include them in the coordination by having a matching hat or bandana or some accessory for your pet.

Focus on fun

It's so important to keep the experience light and fun for the whole family. You won't get the best out of everyone if they are stressed or under too much pressure. Keep it casual and light and fun so that you can capture your family in their best state.

If you have a tiny new member of your family, you can get them an adorable personalised newborn outfit to make them look extra special for the photo!

Choosing a card design that matches with your photo

When you have the perfect family photo taken, it is then time to create the family card. When selecting the card design, go for one that compliments the colour, design and mood of your photo. That will add to the overall cohesion and create a really lovely card!

For example, if you are wearing family Christmas t shirts that are red and gold, then choosing a card design that has some red and gold in it will tie everything together so nicely!

Best of luck with your family photo and Christmas card design!
