Over the years, being a geek was considered uncool or undesirable. But it also meant someone who is intelligent, educated and often successful - which is hugely desirable. So it makes sense that the 'geek chic' style would eventually hit the fashion scene.
This look has been building culturally since the 50's, gaining more mainstream allure since the early 2000's. Remember the TV show, 'Ugly Betty'? Or the movie, 'The Devil Wears Prada'? Both of those heroines wore geek shirt or librarian fashion and started to overcome the negative association with nerd or geek.

It's amazing when you sit back and look at everything that has come together to contribute to the popularity of geek fashion. Look at our current culture, government decisions, social media, the rise of tik tok, reading and so on. It has been the perfect storm to make things like science t shirts popular to wear!

A geek tee shirt with a geeky saying or logo on it is a must-have to achieve the geek chic look!
You can top off your look nicely with the addition of a blazer. Unlike other fashions out there, the blazer does not need to match and in fact, it is better if it doesn't!
Adding some accessories can really make the look complete. Consider some glasses. If you don't need a prescription you can get clear lenses. Other fun accessories are ties and suspenders or a fun sachel bag to go with your geek t shirt - or go wild and add them all!
