I had the most amazing stay at the Galway Bay Hotel! I felt so welcomed & everything about my stay was fabulous from the moment I walked into the hotel until the moment I left.
The Galway Bay Hotel is modern, warm, friendly & exceptionally clean. The four-star hotel is located on the Salthill promenade, close to Galway’s beautiful beaches. It’s a 5-minute drive into Galway city from the hotel.
Check in was fast & easy. I took the elevator to the second floor. The decor throughout the hotel is crisp, bright & clean. I stayed in room 208 which is one of the hotel’s Blackrock Suites. This was my first time staying in a hotel all by myself. I came to Galway for the Food Trail & ITWBN Blogging for Business event. After a wet & busy day on the Food Trail, it was so lovely to stay at the Galway Bay instead of driving home.
When I opened the door, I was blown away by the gorgeous decor! It is absolutely stunning. The room is huge! There is so much space. There is a fresh, clean smell to the room & throughout the hotel.
The king-size bed has beautiful deep red accent colours & I loved the wallpaper & matching lamps. The colours all pull together to create a feeling of warmth, comfort & elegance.
The suite has a comfy sitting area with a couch & a table with a bowl of fresh fruit. Besides that is a table & chairs where I discovered the most delicious & beautifully created pastries! And, two big bottles of water. I was in heaven!
The detail on the chocolate boat is artistry at its best. The brownies with pistachios on top were my favourite! It was such a beautiful welcome. I had a big grin on my face looking around the room taking photos & snaps (cuddlefairy1).
The flat-screen TV was interactive with lots of channels including CBeebies & other kiddie channels. The closet had a robe, slippers, ironing board & safe. The bathroom was unreal! The jacuzzi bath was massive. I went for a swim in it after dinner. It was so relaxing.
The bath towels were fluffy with a lovely fresh smell to them. There were two sets of toiletries in the bathroom & more bottled water. The shampoo, body wash & lotion smelled gorgeous & I enjoyed using them for my bath.
Pre-bath I had a yummy dinner in the hotel’s Lobster Pot Restaurant. You can read about my amazing dinner at the hotel’s restaurant here. The hotel’s pub was a fun surprise! It’s as if they lifted a cozy, traditional Irish pub from town & inserted it into the hotel. It’s like a whole other world in there. The hotel has entertainment in the bar every Friday & Saturday night.
I had a great night sleep. The bed & pillows were very comfortable & again smelled fresh & clean. I love a clean hotel, it makes all the difference to me! There was a temperature control in the room & it was very quiet, I never heard noise from the hall. I woke up & lazed in bed for a while which was a big treat. As I said, it was my first hotel stay all by myself. We always travel as a family, which I love. But, I have to say it was lovely to take my time in the morning & have a relaxed breakfast.
The breakfast buffet is full of variety! I couldn’t believe all of the fresh, tasty options available. The buffet is set up in the Lobster Pot Restaurant which is upbeat & elegant. I was sat next to the window.
The view is fabulous. The hotel looks right out onto Galway Bay. The weekend I stayed had horrific rain & wind. The view is really lovely, despite the appalling weather.
There is a hot food section with a variety of cooked meats, eggs, potato, tomato etc. The hot foods are served to you. There are trays provided which is a big help when travelling with kids.
The buffet had so many yummy things to choose from! There was fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, brown bread, a pancake machine, cereals, juices & much more. Tea or coffee is served fresh to the table.
Our kiddies would have gone crazy for the buffet. There are so many fresh, healthy, delicious choices to choose from! They would have made several trips up to fill their plates.
There was something to suit everyone’s taste. I couldn’t choose just one thing so I made a few plates – for review purposes of course. Everything was gorgeous. Fresh, delicious & the presentation of the buffet is so inviting.
The Galway Bay Hotel has recently updated its pool. It’s bright & modern. There’s an adult & children’s pool. My kids would love the pool. There was a fountain in there & lots of kiddies splashing & having fun when I peeked in.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Galway Bay Hotel. I was relaxed & comfortable as a solo traveller. It’d be a lovely place to stay with the family. The hotel has family rooms, a babysitting service available & there’s a kids club during school holidays. My kids would love the pool, the buffet & the location of the hotel is ideal for families. I’d love to bring the whole family back to stay at the Galway Bay Hotel next summer.
Final Thoughts on the Galway Bay Hotel:
All of the hotel’s staff were exceptional – they are kind, knowledgeable & helpful. The hotel is clean, crisp & modern. The restaurant, bar, leisure centre & public areas of the hotel are beautiful & well kept. The rooms are well equipped, spacious, clean & very comfortable. The Galway Bay hotel offers free wifi throughout the hotel. The location is ideal as you are so close to the city but that little bit out to be relaxed with a fabulous view.
Disclosure: I’d like to give a big thank you to Ciara & all of the staff for such an amazing stay. I was very kindly a guest of the Galway Bay Hotel, but all opinions & words are my own.
