Fruit Salad: A great way to get 1 of your five a day!
I can hardly count this as a recipe because it’s so easy to make, but here it is anyway!
Fruit is so healthy, and fruit salad is a great way to get kids to enjoy eating their fruit. In the mornings when I pack the kids lunches for school, having the fruit ready to scoop out into containers is a big time saver.
Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cook Time: 0 Minutes (hurray!)
Ingredients:
Use whatever fresh fruit you and your kids enjoy. In this salad, I used fresh apples, oranges, pineapple, & grapes. In the summer, I add fresh strawberries, blueberries & raspberries. Melon is also delicious in fruit salad. You can use whatever combination of fruit you enjoy.
I like to put 1/2 a can of tinned fruit (good quality, in fruit juice & preservative free) into my fruit salad. It keeps the pieces of fresh fruit moist and stops the apple from going brown. Plus, it adds a nice juiciness to the salad!
Method:
1. Chop the fresh fruit into kiddie bite sized pieces.
2. Add a 1/2 can of tinned fruit in juice (with 1/2 of the juice).
3. Place the leftover tinned fruit and juice into the small container and place in the fridge. You can use that for making your next fruit salad in a few days.
4. Enjoy your fruit! Leftovers keep well for a few days in the refrigerator.
