5 Creative Accessories for September to Bridge the Gap Between Summer and Autumn

collaborative post

And just like that, we are into a new season. Summer feels like it has flown by at speed this year! September is a lovely month where we begin the transition from long summer nights to short autumn evenings and our temperatures begin to drop. We can almost smell that crisp autumn air! But, some days we get hot sunny weather. So it's not time to take out the heavy winter sweaters just yet.

With all of that in mind, you can see how September is an in-between type of weather month so we need an in-between type of fashion to go with it! Read on for 5 creative accessories for September to bridge the gap between summer and autumn.

Flat Socks

Here's one you may not have heard of before! The flat sock has a similar look to an insole but doesn't replace the insole, it replaces your socks! flat socks create a moisture-wicking barrier that stays in place with a grippy bottom to hold them in place. They are the true no-show sock!

Where they really shine is with cute sneakers, crocs and sandals that you will be wearing this month. You won't see any sign of a sock while keeping the comfort benefits of wearing a sock at the same time!

I've seen the cutest autumn-styled crocs on Instagram which look amazing for September when you pair flat socks to be used as a croc sock! They are ideal for this time of year to keep a cool look while staying comfortable at the same time.

Light Clothing Layers

Because the weather can flip-flop on us in September, the best way to go for clothing is to have light layers. You'd want a base of cotton, linen or other breathable fabrics and build up from there. If it's cold you can throw on your light coat, vest or light sweater but the layers aren't too heavy to wear around either.

Neutral colours are a lovely look in September, helping to bridge the gap between bright summer and darker winter clothing. Neutrals pair so well together so you can mix up your layers with various neutral colours. Plus these transitional outfits will carry you into autumn with the addition of some warmer pieces.

Plaid Scarf

Hey I know I said it's not time for the heavy sweater just yet but we can bring out our plaid scarf, just in case there is a nip in the air! The scarf is that classic autumn look which is so versatile and can be easily taken off if it's warm and on if it gets nippy. You can fling your scarf around your neck and warm up even without a coat.

The Brown Handbag

Autumn is the season of neutrals including browns. It is a great colour to pair with your September look. The brown handbag can work all year round too and definitely will look great with your winter outfits.

There are so many different brown handbags you can choose from including some fabulous suede bags. There are brown bags to suit every budget and style! You can be really creative in your choice or go for a more classic look.

Autumn Shades

Since September is all about that transitional weather, we need to be practical and be ready for the sunny days too. So we might have a plaid scarf on but we might also want our sunnies. Autumn shades will have you covered. Think of a dark colour or a neutral so it will go with your outfits and work for the rest of autumn and winter as well!

Final Thoughts

September is a month when you can be really creative in your outfits and accessories. There is a transition between summer and autumn which gives us a cool mix of textures. Use layers and neutrals to put together a cool and versatile look this September.
