I’m so excited to tell you about our weekend in Galway! We had new experiences & so much fun. This post will give you an overview of what we did & then there will be some more detailed posts coming very soon.
We left home on Friday & our first stop was the Galway Aquarium. It took an hour & fifteen minutes to see everything. We had a good look at each exhibit & took our time reading the signs & talking to the kids about the different fish. The aquarium is a bit dark & there is a wave pool when you first walk in. The noise of the waves frightened our daughter who is 2 & she was a little wary walking around but really enjoyed seeing the “baby fish.”
They have some very cool exhibits, the one below was my favourite. It was so realistic, the kids thought it was a real fisherman sitting there!
We watched this crab putting rocks on his back. The kids thought it was a poor attempt at hide & seek. lol
We were very kindly guests of the lovely Connacht Hotel for the weekend. We received a very warm welcome Friday afternoon when we walked into our well-appointed 2 bedroom apartment. There is so much for families to do in the hotel. The kids adored the pool & kids club. Read my full review of the Connacht Hotel here!
We were thrilled to be invited to the Galway Oyster Festival. It was such a stylish event & the food was delicious. I tried my first raw oyster!!! You will have to read my Oyster Festival post to find out if I ate it or spat it out! 😉
After the oyster festival, we had dinner at one of our favourite restaurants in Galway, The Brasserie on the Corner. The food is always exquisite, service is perfect & the atmosphere is lively. I love everything about this restaurant & highly recommend you check it out if you are in Galway. The pre-theatre menu is very reasonable with generous portions & delicious flavours.
On Sunday, I attended my very first blogger event! It was held by the Into The West Blogger Network (ITWBN) at Glenlo Abbey. We had delicious treats & listened to the very talented Retro Flame speak about her blogging experiences. I have so much more to say about this so there will be a dedicated post to come. Here’s a little teaser of our tasty afternoon tea!
My husband & the kiddies did some shopping while I was at the ITWBN Event. After they collected me, we took a drive through Leenane. The scenery was stunning. These photos don’t truly capture its beauty.
That is a road along the side of the mountain! And yes, we drove on it! What a fabulous view.
We always enjoy visiting Galway. Not only is it a beautiful county but there’s is also so much to see & do! The energy of the city is upbeat & contagious! There are some amazing street performers, fabulous food & stunning scenery.
I’m truly thankful for the opportunities blogging has brought me. Our weekend in Galway was full of amazing experiences. I’d like to give a big thank you to the Connacht Hotel & the Galway Oyster Festival for hosting us this weekend. Keep an eye out for more about our weekend in Galway coming soon!
